If you look closely in the middle of the swirl of leafy green ferns, there is an invasive hop leaf from my ever present and growing hop plants!
Black Galaxy, a black IPA brewed by the Half Pints Brewing Company of Winnipeg, Manitoba, weighs in at 6 percent abv, with a hefty 60 IBUs in its makeup. Ebony in colour with reddish hues out at the edges, it releases notes of roast and fresh malt from underneath. On the palate, there is a dense impression of roast and dark coffee, possibly Columbian in nature, that in turn is embraced by a forthright hop bitterness. The finish is long and bitter as all the elements dance merrily across the tongue and are swept down the throat. A damn fine brew. Might have another one, if I had one to hand!
